How does the NFL Pick'em competition work?

Free to enter, no buy-in. How joining, picking, scoring, locking, and the leaderboard work each week.

NFL Pick'em is a free competition that runs all season. Every week, pick who you think will win each game. The bigger the underdog you pick, the more points you get for being right, and your points carry over from week to week. Players are ranked on total points across the season.

Who can enter

Open to legal residents of most countries who are 18 or older and eligible to hold a Catalyst profile. See Who can participate? for the full list of restricted locations.

Where to join and place your weekly picks

You'll need a free Catalyst profile to enter, including phone verification. If you don't already have one, sign up at tradecatalyst.com - this is the same login you'll use to make your picks.

You'll be assigned a leaderboard username automatically. You can change it anytime in your account settings.

Click NFL Pick'em next to your wallet balance in the top navigation, or click Join now on the "Join the free NFL challenge" banner.

How it works

Joining: You can join the competition any time during the season (September 9, 2026 – January 10, 2027). You'll start earning points right away, and you won't lose anything for the weeks before you joined.

Picking games: Pick the winner of as many games each week as you want. You don't have to pick every game, skipping one just means zero points for that game, it doesn't affect your other picks.

Changing your mind: Change your pick as many times as you want, right up until that game kicks off.

Your score locks in when you pick: The score you see when you pick is the score you get. If the odds move after that and you don't update your pick, your score doesn't move either. Update your pick anytime before kickoff to lock in a new score.

Once a game starts: No more picks or changes. Whatever was locked in at your last pick is what counts.

Once a week is over: That week is locked for good. You can't change anything after that. The next week's games open up as soon as they're ready.

Scoring

The bigger the underdog, the more the win is worth. If you're right, your score is 100 minus that team's win percentage on Catalyst. The two teams in a game always add up to 100 points between them, and every game is worth the same amount overall.

Outcome

Pick a 38% underdog, and you're right

Pick the 62% favorite instead, and you're right

Settlement

Settling: Games settle the same way every other market on Catalyst does, off Polymarket's result for that matchup. Once it's decided, your points post automatically and show up on the leaderboard right away.

Voided games: If a game ends in a tie, or otherwise can't be settled, it doesn't count. No one earns points, and it's left out of your total.

Winners are notified by email and have one week from that notification to complete identity verification, submit tax forms, and provide payout information before a prize is paid out. Prizes not claimed in that time are forfeited. Full details in the Official Rules.

Playing fair

One entry per person. Picking with others to coordinate entries, or playing from more than one profile, disqualifies everyone involved. Full details in the Official Rules.
